Over the Back Fence: March Thoughts

Well Mother Nature certainly knew how to see out Summer and announce the arrival of Autumn last week!  I hope everyone managed to stay safe and dry.  My heart goes out to all those poor folk who have been impacted by the floods over the past week or so.  Luckily where we are we were fortunate to be out of harms way.  One good thing which did come from all the rain was that our little spring feed creek after 7 years of being dry is now flowing and the frogs are singing.

What has been happening with The Graziers Daughter over the past few weeks?

Easter is fast approaching which implies a lot of chocolate and hot cross buns to be consumed!  Toowoomba Regional Council asked me to provide 3 hampers for their Easter competition they are running this year in conjunction with their free BOLD magazine.  3 lucky winners will receive a Graziers Daughter hamper brimming with local goodies so make sure you get your issue of the March/April BOLD magazine – www.tr.qld.gov.au/bold

I was approached a while back about donating a hamper for a very worthwhile cause.  A little girl by the name of Georgia suffers from Rett Syndrome which is a neurological disorder.  Imagine being unable to walk, talk or use your hands to feed yourself, imagine struggling for each and every breath you take, imagine not being able to scratch an itch or even tell someone you have one ….. that’s Rett Syndrome.  A gala charity event has been planned for Saturday 26th March 2022 at Rumours International Conference Centre in Toowoomba to raise much needed funds for the Rett Syndrome Association of Australia.

Hampton Festival Weekend

Food and Wine Festival Sunday 15th May 2022

I have been working with the Hampton Festival community regarding creating picnic hamper packs which people are able to purchase online when they purchase their tickets for the Food & Wine Festival.  This food, art and cultural extravaganza has an extensive events and entertainment program giving you a unique, authentic High Country experience highlighting the natural beauty of the Hampton region in autumn.

The theme this year is “Teddy Bears Picnic” and we are looking at creating 400 picnic hampers for adults and possibly 250 children’s ones.  Both hampers will be full of goodies from the local areas including Hampton, Ravensbourne, Crows Nest and Highfields.

Watch this space for more information as we get closer to the date!

Well that’s about it for another month, please keep dry and safe until next time we talk.
